I probably wouldn't be alive tomorrow if I attempted to dress either of my cats LOL

All of our cats get dressed up at one time or another, some stay dressed up for days or weeks on end, and we have yet to have an issue with that at all.

Somewhere we have photos of Natasha dressed as a Southern Belle (really frilly dress and all) when she spent the weekend at the Connecticut Trolley Museum, and she would pose for photos and ring the bells there years ago.

For those that do not know, my husband, who posts here as AngrySailor302, is not doing too well right now, and has been in and out of both the local VA hospital and clinic for the bulk of the last two weeks, which is why he is seldom here right now.

Long story short, some of the internal organ damage he suffered years ago in the Navy has caught up with him, and has contributed to reduced kidney and liver effectiveness as well as pancreas issues. Due to those and other issues, he has been formally granted a permanent service animal by the VA (everything prior was working with authorization of his old Navy doctors) to help with the mental stress of everything that is going on.

Unfortunately, Heidi did not pass the mustard for the VA's companion animal requirements due to her origins (she was a stray) and that she was not formally processed as a potential companion early enough (she can be retested in a few months, provided she takes to traveling in a car well).

So he now has a kitten that has bonded with him nicely, and helps remind him to take his medications, that HAS to travel with him to pretty much every place he goes aside from Doctor's appointments (with written Doctor's Orders, enforceable by the Americans with Disabilities Act). Natasha is allowed to go with, as she has experience, but the new one is supposed to travel with him everywhere, as a "working feline", but with Natasha's advancing age (15), they want her retired from companion duties by the end of 2014.

So far, his doctors are encouraging him to keep on with model railroading, and think that continuing to go to train shows is "good medicine", as far as mental health goes, and that acclimatizing the new kitten for said shows is also a good idea, considering that that is the bulk of my husband's social life now.

The only problem with the kitten is naming. AS302 wanted to name her "Cinders", but the VA said that might be mistaken for a fire threat/fascination, so the search for a name goes on.

Here are some photos of her, taken while introducing her to trains:

So the idea is that the kitten will become another "railroad and service cat", with more emphasis on the service part.

Working on it. I am not so sure that "Angry's Little Helper" would go over well with the VA, as they want me to be far less angry than I am, then again, all in my medical team agree that I have much to be angry about.
