Railroad signal lights

Railroad signal lights

Postby Arseny » Fri Dec 29, 2017 3:01 am

Some Russian manufacturer offers TT-scale signal lights, Soviet-style, limited edition.
It seems to me that they can work as American ones; I've seen some American signal lights that looked like these ones; am I right?

If yes, which raiload(s) will suit? Will the SOO Line fit?
Which type was more popular, 2-light or 4-light?..

Or should I better use the H0-scale (or N-scale) pure American model?..

They do look like some U.S signal lights, the big difference is a lot of North American use different numbers of lights- a lot had three lights, some had two and some only had one. It depends on the railroad which ones they used and some used their own that were different than anyone else's! But they look really good!
Here is an article that shows a few different ones-

Arseny, the dwarf signal looks more US then the other version, commonly called "searchlight" style signals here, do a Google.

I found this, but it's only similar. With three lamps it would be nearly NA-prototypical.

The dwarf signal is near to an NA-prototype or to this.

Which signal aspects have them (lamp color)?

As for 2-lights version, I suppose red+green. As for 4-lights version, I don't know.
But I do not know exactly yet

The four lamp version is according the Russian standards Y-R-G-Y but not very often used. The typical configuration was a 3,5 and 6 lamps signal ( split in 3 lamps on the upper plate and 2-3 on the bottom plate.)
Th two lamp version could be also Blue/White for switch moves (sidings).
