Railbox car from 1976

Thought this was interesting. did not know that railbox cars were in use back in 1976. on the third train you catch a glimps of one for two seconds. Cant tell if the loco is an sw9 or sw1200.

Nice collection of railways at 2:40. CN, Penn Central and Erie.

The loco at the end looks like #438, that would be an SW9 (and it actually still exists today at the URHS in New Jersey!).

Railbox was started in 1974 as a means to address a perceived shortage of long range boxcars at the time.

There were early precursors to the Railbox car with the earliest examples arriving on the SCL in December 1967. L&N got some a year or so later, I think.
