So...
What is the axle spacing on the BR 218:
  • Prototype?
  • Model?

Ref: http://www.thedieselshop.us/AlcoFA1.HTML
The FA1 prototype has a truck-to-truck wheelbase of 38'-06" (TT = 3.85in , 97.79mm)
How does the TT-scale BR 218 compare?

be careful with dieselshop dimensions. they are invariably wrong. in this case by about 10'.

Wow... I didn't double check! You are CORRECT:

http://www.hosam.com/alco/frt.html
The FA1 prototype (which the Kemtron shell, and other copy-casts model)
has a truck-center to truck-center measurement of 27'-02" (TT = 2.72in , 69.0mm)

dieselshop shows the "Distance between Truck Centers" as 27' 2"

I think "wheel base" is the center to center of the two outermost wheels

So what is the real truck center to truck center?

FA1 is 27"2. FA2 a foot or two longer, IIRC.

I've edited my post to make this clear.
