OK, it looks like various bits are on their way from Modellbahnwelt. Very prompt service. He keeps the Piko trucks in stock.

These are interesting in a few ways. They have a idler middle axle that is spaced off-centre - the total wheelbase is something like 37.5mm and you can move the centre axle fairly easily to wherever you want if you want to do a different spacing.

Using the trucks it would not be hard to do a chassis.

The downside is that the truck wheelbase as is, is pretty much useless for anything American. The closest thing appears to be a PA or even closer, a DL109 if you space the centre axle equi-distant from the front-rear axles.

The axles are solid metal, and the wheels insulated, unlike the Hercules where it's a Delrin single piece axle/gear with wheels just pressed on the ends.

In Europe, almost everyone orders spare parts directly from Piko's webshop.
The webshop is available even in English but many parts have only German names
Just type in the number of the model and it will show you all spare parts for it, incl. gears and trucks
