Had a chance to swing by Inman yard again for an hour this past weekend. Some more pics:

It's a circus train!

It's just like in the Circus Train episode of Extreme Trains (the only episode to feature CSX, and pointed out the tardy service of CSX.)

Other than the photos that show the ugliest three letter acronym, the photos are great, and to be proud of.

At Inman I pretty much have two choices - Norfolk Southern and CSX. NS didn't have much going on so.....
The circus train was pretty interesting - I couldn't figure out what it was at first because it was far away. Then I found my way between some houses and through a bit of foliage and there it was. I was like "oooohhh! where da elephants at?!"

After our last encounter with those CSX asshats, we are both loathe to take pictures of anything CSX.

Terry has picked up the CSX-bashing habit as well. We recently got our latest installment of the Model Railroader "Dream Plan Build" DVD collection, and it showcases an old L&N line, and then shows off CSX "in action". Terry kept yelling "bastards!" each time a CSX diesel filled the screen.

Show him NS, UP, BNSF, and he will not stop about the "trains, trains, trains". He may only be 3 years old, but he is pretty damn smart.

When I see picture 9 of your initial post, I wonder, what's the standard tie distance on the US railroads, sure not the same as the in-yards?

Honestly I'm not sure what the standard is. It's interesting that you noticed that specific track. On the other side of the bridge where I was standing, I remember that I noticed brand new gravel under one of the tracks and it MAY actually have been that one. Maybe they are repairing / replacing that specific track and had only finished up to the bridge? I'll look more closely at it next time I go.

Yep, conceivable ... but normally in this case the gravel isn't already filled up between the ties.

True. Hmmm. I don't know. I'll look for the same track next time I go and see if anything has changed.
