My Present (to Myself!)

My Present (to Myself!)

Postby areibel » Mon Dec 26, 2011 8:31 pm

Saturday was a good day!
I stopped into my friend (and fellow TT'er) Tom Collard's shop, just to wish him a Merry Christmas. Tom mentioned he had brought in acouple TT items that he was going to sell, so I took a look. This is what I found-

The set of boxcars Tillig released around the time they brought out the FP9! I wwas floored, I didn't know he had a set, and the price was better than I could have hoped- $60!!
I must have been a good boy this year!

Al

Looking inside those cars... do they appear to be resin... or styrene?

BTW: IIRC they were astronomically-priced when new.

The same place where I got my Tillig "FP7" several years ago had a set of those. For $400! I didn't buy them.

Hi Richard,
I'm prettty sure they're resin. There are a few minor marks inside the shell that kind of look like the remnants of mold marks, but the exterior detail is perfect. Too bad we can't talk whoever made the masters into doing some 50' cars!

They're not assembled, so I can't say how high they sit on the rails. The body side is about 10'5" from the bottom to the top of the rivet line, not including the sill under the door. The end from the peak to the bottom is about 11'2".
