Miss TT Nut 2014

Postby AstroGoat760 » Thu Feb 13, 2014 8:14 pm

In other threads it has been mentioned about the relatively low numbers for women modeling in TT scale (much less working with model trains in general). As such in yet another topic the idea of having a "Miss TT Nut" was floated (and I think that it was mentioned at the 2013 NTS as well).

Well, to try to promote women's participation in TT scale model railroading, I would like to start the nomination process for "Miss TT Nut 2014".

Between now and the end of February 2014, following posts are for those to either enter themselves or to nominate others. At that time, a poll will be created, and the winner (and runners-up).

The following is a suggestion for information needed for the nominations:

1.) Years involved with model railroading in general and TT scale in specific.
2.) Prototype preference (North American/Russian/Continental Europe/England/etc)
3.) Favorite TT scale locomotive/rolling stock item/building/etc.
4.) What the nominee would like to see in TT scale in the near future/wish list.
5.) A picture of the nominee with a TT scale item/full size railroad item (or ideally both) that is tasteful and family friendly.
6.) Favorite thing about modeling in TT scale.

Membership in TTnut.com is not a requirement, but it is considered beneficial, especially with regards to documentation of working with TT scale equipment/layouts.

And... start your nominations!

[EDIT 28February2014: Added poll]

So....I know of one woman involved in TT and it's not my wife.

My nomination goes to you know who.

I think I know of whom you speak.

I will let her nominate herself if she wishes.

If I remember correctly, there are at least two female members of this board.

But because I don't have an image of Xenia, she also will have to nominate herself.

I am nominating myself for "Miss TT Nut 2014":

1.) Years involved with model railroading in general and TT scale in specific.
I have been involved in model railroading for about 10 years and TT scale since 2007.

2.) Prototype preference (North American/Russian/Continental Europe/England/etc).
Most of my personal models are North American and the rest is Continental Europe.

3.) Favorite TT scale locomotive/rolling stock item/building/etc.
MTB SW8, Norfolk and Western #2111

4.) What the nominee would like to see in TT scale in the near future/wish list.
Reading T-1 4-8-4 (For the American Freedom Train, Chessie Steam Special

5.) A picture of the nominee with a TT scale item/full size railroad item (or ideally both) that is tasteful and family friendly.

6.) Favorite thing about modeling in TT scale.
How easy converting the real thing is (10 feet real thing = 1 inch on the model), and the fact that TT scale is something different.

2 of the reasons I also model in TT scale.

Would love to see a Reading 4-8-4 in TT scale. Have CaTT or Sailor ridden the Reading Rambles?

Since we have much in common, she gets my vote.

Sadly, no. The Reading Rambles were last done years before either of us were born. We have both seen 2101 and 2124 in person more than once, though.
