Milling Tillig 8mm wagon wheels on a lathe

Hi

I have some Tillig 7.5mm wagon wheel axles and note they are very hard steel.

Has anyone successfully milled these wheels for a loco or wagon project? I'd like to use their 8mm wagon wheels to make some stub axles for a loco project, and the wheel tread will need to be reduced, the axle milled from 1.5mm to 1mm diameter, the axlepoint shortened and the flanges milled down so they can be used on code 55 or even code 40 track.

Do you have a lathe?

I know a guy that I work with that uses a lathe for O-gauge train wheels, I will ask him if he knows what to do for making TT wheels.
