Looking for a home

Looking for a home

Postby Paul Ransom » Fri Mar 29, 2019 2:54 pm

I acquired a TT set that was brought in from the GDR, probably in the early 90s. Dates in some accompanying brochures noted were 1975 and 1981. The transformer is 220, so I used an HO one that was part of another set I had in the basement. The grandson no longer plays with it, and it is time to find it a home. What is available is most of what's shown in the photo (not the Fisher Price barn!). There are 2 locis, one works and the other only partly and that is apart. Some electric switches probably need repair. It is well used, there are loose and poorly fitting tracks etc. We had it going as in the photo in 2016. There are plenty of plastic buildings, trees and such for scenery, a bridge, and tunnel I think.

Some Russian writing with the transformer suggests target market was USSR. My take from the main brochure is that the manufacturer is Berliner Bahen; and the set or model the kit was or was part of is GLEISPL'A'NE (1975).

Happy to pass on locally near Kimberley, BC or somewhere we can meet not too far from there, otherwise for cost of shipping.

Are there no cars? The two locos are the only rolling stock?

Photo of rolling stock and the stack of tracks. Recall the passenger cars were too long for the radius of the curves so kept falling off! The two upside down have no wheels. Some couplers of the other cars need replacing. I think we had engine and at least 3 cars running when at its best. My impression is that the set was pretty much entry level. Second non-functioning engine seems missing, will have a look and include if located.

If you can find the disassembled locomotive I’d be interested in the lot.
