It's interesting for me too.
I have 2 GP7s and one F3 from Lionel, and want to motorize them...

I have a chassis for the Lionel. Very well done except for the angle of the drive shafts which ends up causing noise and a drive shaft coming out of the U joint sometimes. I plan to "massage" the chassis a bit to put the motor lower down and therefore minimizing the drive shaft angles to hopefully eliminate the issues.

I ordered one of each power chassis and will be picking the package up from the post office tomorrow. I'll take some pictures and post them when I get a chance.

This problem hasn't the chassis for the F units and the GG1s.

@MacG-
Did you ever finish your project of motorizing the Lionel Hudson? I remember seeing pictures on the German board, I would be very interested to see how it came out!

Wow, somebody tried to motorize Lionel's steamers?!
I did not purchase them because I did not know how to motorize them. But if it is possible, it would be very interesting!

sacto-tt, it would be very interesting to look at your photos.

@areibel: no, I had no time for it. Putting the motor at the tender is not the problem, but the fixation of the axles at the locomotive and the connection locomotive to tender.

@Arseny: yes it is possible, there are some rolling Hudson's out there ;) It is my first one.

But, back to topic.
