Starting to cut up the lionel gp9 with a view to hopefully improving it. Just started by removing the cast in fans which will be replaced by some HO fans to represent a 4 foot TT fan and somewhere along the line a dynamic brake will have to be made

A bit more chopping up of the Lionel, not sure yet whether it will improve it some or else louse it up completely, however nothing ventured is nothing gained :problem:

What are you using to do your cutting?

Sorry TT I missed your message. in short a very cheap wobbly cobra milling machine that I got from ebay. I am no engineer really so am trying to learn how to use the thing as I go. Hence the wobbly cuts but to be honest the photo looks worse than the reality so it will do especially with some more milliput filler

Hello, I am new here and I would like convert a GP9 to dummy than can run for the track, but I can find the method to open the trucks to change the wheels. Is it possible to do it?

There is a round "pin" on the bottom the trucks. Pry it out with a flat screw driver. It may require some force - don't be afraid.
