Layout design contest

Postby ConducTTor » Sat Sep 19, 2015 11:13 pm

Hey guys, Indiana 2016 is just around the corner and I'm contemplating a new mobile layout for it. I need some ideas of what the track will look like. If I decide to use your idea, I'll send you a RPed U30B shell like the one in the pics below. You can give me as many ideas as you wish.

The layout consists of 2 L shapes. Assume that I'll be sitting at the top of the below picture facing down. The bottom and sides will be plexi glassed and facing show visitors. The TOP L can NOT have scenery other than ground cover. This is because the 2 Ls will sit on top of each other during transport. This part is simply non negotiable.

A few things:
There can be a back drop.
I'd prefer a plan that is able to include one or more buildings that are available for purchase in TT scale.
The layout is North American themed.
Era is any post steam.

Here are the dimensions to work with:

How large are the modules going to be, and how many trains do you want to run continuously at once?

The dimensions of the two L shaped modules are in the image. How many trains? Two would be preferable but is not a must.

Taller structures would have to be on the left side. A backdrop would have no limitations as I would make it removable.

Why do you use this L shape? So you can't add the one module upside down to the another. I would prefer four modules. Divide this L into rectangles. It is safer to transport.

As crazy at it may sound, this is the way to get the maximum area layout to fit in my 2 door Civic. Trust me, I've spent a TON of time on this.

Okay. But there is no problem to transport four modules in that L shape. Rails outside is no good idea. I will sketch it tomorrow for you.
