Is it bad to not be interested in steam?

ConducTTor, I'm largely with you on this one. I love diesels and electrics, and just can't get as excited about steam. 18 201 is a very special case, something of a modern steam locomotive. What might have been perhaps... I want one too!

Perhaps I have no soul either. While I can appreciate the atmosphere of this...

Oh man, I've wanted a VT 18.16 badly. Another EXPENSIVE item.... I assume you've seen the Kres model? http://www.kres.de/index.php?seite=show ... 6beeaf0684

Oh yes. Lokpavillion and Modellbahn Bertram both had them in stock. They had a non powered driver as well for a mere(?) 40 euros.

It's my turn to be heretic. I could get away with one on a special on my H0 layout!

I don't know... I like the old-fashioned stuff...
A friend of mine took his BR86 out for some fresh air:

Even on the iPhone picture it looks pretty good to me!

Hobby Shop.cz has some exclusive photos of the model on their site (http://www.hobby-shop.cz/cz/vindobona.php).

That picture is really damn good. I had to take a closer look the second time around to realize that was a photo of a TT train, and not the real thing.

Well, Mr. B, this is all your fault. After taking a look at the picture above and the others you had posted, I did a little research. Turns out that one of the above units ran from Berlin to Vienna via Prague and Brno under the name Vindobona Express. That was about all the excuse I needed. Just wanted to say thank you and your stupid pictures...

Just kidding! The model is fantastic and I couldn't be happier with it! Perhaps this diesel admiration is catching? I'll get some info into the model library when I can get away from running it.
