I got bored today, so...

I've always drooled over all those brass trains you see on eBay. My original plan was to clean up the brass on these but after a little googling I found out most brass trains are painted with brass/metallic paint, so....

Looks good Rob!
I had a friend that showed ne an example of the "cosmetics" on one he was painting- looked good in the box, but when he took it apart and gave it a dunk all the solder smears showed up!

looks great and very coincidental as I just dug my wagons out of the cupboard on the weekend wondering what scheme I would paint.

The handrails were missing from the tanker when I got it. Aside from the engine this was just a quickie paint job to see how it would look. I'll probably strip them back down and redo them a little better.

Thanks Rob. I feel not so stupid now.

There is a lot out there for TT scale, for information that is not that readily available, and a lot of misinformation out there too, thanks to some folks who either accidentally (or intentionally) spread it. Trust me, I have had a lot of incorrect information (mainly from some that used to be involved in TT scale near where I lived at, back when I was still in the Navy and stationed in CT) on my part fixed here, so you are not alone.

That said, CaTTwoman tried something like that with a Life-Like basic HO scale train set, modeling it after the Chessie System GM50 loco (gold paint with the Chessie System logo). It did not look half bad, for a first project.

Perhaps I shall paint all my models in brass and sell them on ebay for a bazillion dollars
