Hump yard layout

Postby Arseny » Thu Nov 24, 2011 3:09 am

Hump yard layout in the Railway Museum, Saint-Petersburg, Russia.

It was made in 1937 (!)

When I was small, it was my favorite place :)

It never crossed my mind to model a hump yard. Interesting.

Thanks for that Arseny. I believe some US modellers, mainly in HO, have modelled hump yards. I had the good fortune to see a real one one in operation in Vienna last year - just as our train passed the hump a loco was pushing some wagons over the summit and I saw one roll down towards the yard.

I have seen a few hump yard layouts, one in S gauge. When done right, they are impressive, when wrong, it's like another Gomez Addams layout.
