Hello from Down Under

Hello from Down Under

Postby Bigelov » Tue Sep 10, 2019 8:39 am

Hi all,

I recently joined but been lurking for a while so thought I better say hi, so HI!

I'm from Australia where TT is a rare beast indeed. Though I have seen TiTan downunder at a few localish shows. Sorry to say but my main interest is Russian rolling stock. And even stranger in narrow gauge (running on Z scale hand laid track).

I post over on the MRH forums once in a while so thought I would share one of my photos from there.

Tillig ChME2 with Peresvet wagons, and Shapeways based little passenger car on a very short section of track that I have.

Enjoy!

Welcome aboard Steve!
If you have any questions concerning Russian railroads, feel free to ask - I am from Russia!

If I am not mistaken, Norkin-model produced this wagon (is it PW-40?) as etched brass.

G'day Steve,

Have only been doing the spectator thing this year as pre-occupied with family matters. Will probably " do " Albury show next year if I can get motivated.

regards

Thanks for your welcome guys.

Arseny, thanks for your offer! The passenger car is a PV40. I think I got mine before I first saw the Norkin one. I have visited 12mm.ru over the years and noticed an occasional TTe (narrow gauge) model once in a while. Quite a while back I inquired about Norkin's snow plough, but the postage was prohibitive. I find it hard to know what he has available and how to get them.

Ian, I hope your family is ok. I am sure we will catch up again in time.

BTW, Steve, if you like the Russian narrow gauge rolling stock - do you know about the TU3 model?
(also known as Czech 705.9, TU 47.0, T 47.0)
https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%A2%D0%A33

TU3 is not "pure" Russian, it was made in the Czechoslovakia for the USSR (like the ChME2, however  )
Czech company "DK-Model" produces it in TTe (as a kit):

Some info (in Russian) and photos concerning the TU3:

Arseny,
Yes I have seen the TU3 from DK-Model. It took a while searchng around to realise what I was modelling was TTe (1:120 scale running on 6.5mm track representing 750/760mm track). Once I found that out I could search for things a bit easier.

I am basing my layout on the Lipakovo logging line in Arkhangelsk Oblast. Proto-freelancing it. As TU3's were fairly rare I haven't got one of those models, but I may do one day. I have scratchbuilt a TU7, which is my avatar pic, and also a TU2 from another Shapeways print. All the rolling stock I have has also been scratchbuilt.

I noticed that DK-Model also do a ChME3 kit. Being Czech built I guess they like building Czech models!

Welcome aboard Steve! I model American, but it looks like some Russian equipment could be kitbashed. Models look good!
