Gorre gon & 10-wheeler

Postby D Martin » Thu Jan 27, 2011 1:12 pm

I have nearly finished a Gorre & Daphetid cardboard side gondola. It is shown with my HP 10-wheeler, and in a blurry close-up by itself.

The "Gory and Defeated"? Modeling a fictional rr from another scale into this one - you're taking things to a whole new level!

Looks fit for a leprechaun. However like the Green from the usual color schemes. Love the RR name... hehe

The name and the railroad it belongs to are very famous in US model railroading:

Yes, I know (now ;) ) - I used Google and Wikipedia. ;)

But do you remember - the author died only 60 years old, after the fatal heart attack, and 2 weeks later all the layout was destroyed in the fire...

I used G & D cardboard sides I bought through eBay. The same maker & seller is discussed on this board somewhere. His website steamfans.com is down for maintenance right now. He also has many refrigerator and box car sides for reasonable prices. I assembled the G & D gondola as a replica honoring the late John Allen and his famous model railroad. There is a discussion group for the G & D on Yahoo! (Yahoo! has a group for every topic, don't they?)

Sounds like an interesting Layout you've got there or are building...
even though my interest is in German Layouts, one of them my favorite layouts was the HO Layout "altbergbahn" by author Geoff Money, search on Google to find some pics of it. It was featured in Model Railroader a couple of years ago. And so far has been one of my insperations in regard to building my layout...

Perhaps we should put together a section dedicated to our layouts, information about the layout, track plan, images etc :)
