German Help, Please!

German Help, Please!

Postby areibel » Mon Feb 15, 2010 9:37 pm

I'm trying to register on the German TT board, and I need a little help!
I figured out the username, password and email but I can't figure out this phrase-
Die Trennung des Weges bei der Bahn wird erreicht durch welche Vorrichtung?

Babelfish mkes it pretty squirrely, it comes out as-
Does the separation of the way in the train become reached through which device?
Now it sounds like they're asking about a switch or points- or is it something else?

Still learning the language, but it sure seems to me that the statement is referring to a turnout.

I believe the correct thing to enter is "weiche". This is to ensure you are a human trying to register and not a bot. So they ask you what you call the part of the rails that "splits". "weiche" = turnout / point / switch......

No prob - take a look at the new topic under "links". Translators will totally screw in some ways - can't log in for example. The google toolbar explained in the new topic alleviates all issues.
