Control panel

The control panel is in progress. This is just the draft version to test the location of the holes. The final version will be printed on green paper and will be behind the thin plexi panel.
The control switches are already partially working.

Some progress. Not all buildings in the background are in final place and versions. I am still studying the different options.
A heavy weathering will follow.

The next step towards the turntable control. Every hardware is done now, part of the code is working already.
The whole setup in compact version can be assembled together in 3 layers of PCB. On the picture it is upside down. The small board is the processor ( ready made UNO from China), the next board is the interconnection board and power supply. The bottom one carries the pushbuttons and the LEDs to control the turntable.
The indicator panel can be separated if required and is connected with a piece of ribbon cable.

Already the entire layout is working (it was not easy, over 30 occupation detectors, digital and classic relais logic for the main line and for two tracks on main station... some more electrical job is not done yet ( bidirectional operation on all tracks). Meanwhile there is also some progress on the scenery.
There also some new experiences: All my old models (30-50 years) are still complete, from the newer expensive models some details are already missing (they are lost along the tracks). I am hesitating what to do? To take apart before operation each new model and glue all parts to the body?
Additionaly all wheels with rubber (etc) tires are creating more and more troubles. The locomotives are performing not very well with such tires, are more sensitive on switches and the wear-off is very high (for my taste). My trains are running less then 50% of their maximum speed. I am experimenting already with different materials for tires, but where possible I replace all tired wheels for standard ones (without tires). On standard domestic layout anyway I do not need the extra pulling power for long trains and the performance is much better if the locos does not have tires.
