The Santa Fe's "Super C" was a dedicated fast freight train. In fact the operating instructions for road crews for that train were to use normal train brakes instead of dynamic braking to help meet the advertised timetable for it.

I doubt that this train here is traveling any faster than the Super C did.

Don't forget the SP/SSW "Blue Streak Merchandise" ...

Quote: "...a remarkable train: One you'd be "shot at sunrise" for delaying, to quote an engineer. One that provoked crews to throw speed limits out the window. One that caused the rulebook to be rewritten. One that made and broke careers. One that on three occasions could justly claim to be "the world's fastest freight train."

Train ID was BSMFF... Blue Streak Merchandise Freight Forwarder...
The "FF" was sometimes decoded as "Fast F***er"

Other fast freights on the SP system went to Memphis and also up the LA-SF Coast line.
