Hi everybody; this is just to report a minor derailment.

On December 26 at at about 1630 a Tillig switcher lost the boxcar it was pulling around the Christmas tree.

I wasn't personally present at the event. Started a follow-up investigation upon hearing the reports. The engineer said she was operating the locomotive at full speed (~65 scale miles per hour)

The brakeman decided to throw the upcoming switch just as the train approached. The engineer recalled she had about 3 seconds verbal notice from the brakeman. However during his interview the brakeman admitted that he may have been in the process of throwing the switch as the consist crossed the points.

The Loco was pushing the boxcar over the switch when the boxcar derailed and the loco headed down the siding off the mainline.

Several aspects of this incident are of grave concern; fortunately no lives were lost this time but obviously we will have to institute some operating policies and staff training.

You may want to check the people involved for substance abuse (in this case, sugar I assume) LOL

I'm sorry to have done this to you, but I reported this incident to the NTSB. They're on the way. . . .

No we have no cat. The Guinea pigs were in the cage at the time of the incident.

Maintenance crews were off for a holiday and there were humongous pine needles fallen on the tracks.

Mandatory random drug, alcohol and blood sugar tests have been instituted for all crew and operational staff except the dispatcher (who enjoys copious amounts of chocolate and coffee)
