I used MicroScale decals (N scale) for my ALCO FA locomotive - it seems to me they are acceptable.

It is up to the individual preferences. I agree with Whiteoak.
Arseny's Alco FA got a very nice paint job, and the N scale lettering on it may look OK if you don't know the real engine. The lettering on the side just does not look like the prototype to me. Then when comparing the pictures, it turns out that the front and the stripes do not fit either. I'd use slightly more time on it and use TT scale decals instead.
I used N scale decals some time ago and I was not quite happy with the results.
Try to compare Arseny's engine with a photo of the real one. It could be OK for some and not OK for others.

Thank you all for your replies

I've decided that for now.... I will pass on American TT but I am going to try my hand at modern European TT
