Cold in Hotlanta

Hey Boss, did you get stuck in any of that mess down there?
I saw the pics of the parking lot on I285, and my uncle called a while ago and said it was pretty nasty. Hope you're home working on trains!

I was alright but man it was complete insanity. One of my wife's coworkers spent 18 hours getting home. I find the whole thing ridiculously funny. It's 1 inch of snow!

It is an outright mess in our part of Georgia (roughly an hour west of Atlanta), school has been called off for the last two days, and is cancelled for tomorrow, and possibly Friday as well.

We did however find out what happens when 6 million people all leave work at the same time.

That is one of the big points for us, the county school system opted to keep students home before the snow even fell, to minimize the likelihood of snarl-ups like those in Atlanta. It wasn't until the snow was down and the roads covered did many others decide to close up shop/schools/etc.

That old "bucket" Ranger of mine did quite a bit of work yesterday and today, getting around and giving rides to those stuck, thanks to it's 5 speed 4x4, coupled with the fact that I still know how to drive in the snow. Most in Georgia (and the Southern US, do not have any winter driving skills, which leads to messes like the current situation.

At least the snow is supposed to be at least mostly gone by the weekend.

Here is someone's car, after they overshot the end of the road, just to the west of our new house:

At least this is something to think about when it is in the 90's and humid out, just think of the cold and just maybe you will shiver (or is that heat stroke?....)

(No offence intended but I'm laughing so hard!)

That's the problem. It melts on contact. Then turns into ice. No snow on the roads - just an endless ice sheet.
