Check out this site for a promising idea regarding cell phone and iPad control without need for a DCC system or a computer hooked to your layout, just a fixed voltage: www.bluerailtrains.com

Holy crap! I wonder when N scale boards will be available. I want to see how the "controller" will work with multiple trains.

Since there are already many things operating with bluetooth, I would expect it should work as advertised, since it's not really breaking new ground. On their website is a questionnaire form asking for your preferences. I filled it out, and was quite surprised to receive a personal email thanking me for my response and answering a few questions. In that email, it stated that they have already been able to reduce the size down from the board shown in the video (which fills up an HO F-unit) to one that is about 5/8" square (impressive but still a bit large for N and most TT.

Guys, if you visit their website, please fill out their questionnaire, which they actually will read and pay attention to, and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Sent the guys an email and they replied immediately. Pretty cool. They have huge demand for N scale modules so they're on their way as soon as possible.
