Beyond garden railroading

Here are some more photos from my live-diesel outdoor layout. I rode from Vancouver to Toronto the first week in May and am in Ohio now until the end of the month. The train was the first long train of the summer season and had about twenty cars, including two diners and three dome cars.

The first photo shows the train in sections waiting for departure from Vancouver, done that way to allow easier boarding. This time I took more pictures of the inside of the train. The long observation car is used through the mountains between Vancouver and Edmonton and taken off the train for the rest of the trip. One photo shows a control panel for one of the passenger cars. The cars are old but modernized and well-maintained. The up-to-date touches such as the LED indicators are all tastefully done and don't detract from the classic appearance of the equipment. Another photo shows one of the etched glass panels found in the dining car. Another shows the stairway up to the observation dome.
