It's interesting to see that all.
I had the image from a website with funny pictures—without any comment.

I did a search for the 1st photo online, and found the other two with descriptions to match. I have way too much time on my hands here.

The strange thing to me is that nothing else (except the ballast) around the tracks is "crooked" in the same way.

Everything else is literally anchored in place by something. All that is holding the track in place is the ballast.

Following the information attached to this photo on the website you refer to, this is not a "before picture" but a picture taken after the tracks were repaired.
