Hmm... Not knowing how it comes apart... this is just speculation:
Could you use the fully-sceniced "middle" sections as a switching layout?
(i.e. no dog-bone loops or continuous runs...)

The ability to do continuous running is a rather important thing for us, so just a switching layout alone will not work.
