Bad News

Postby AstroGoat760 » Wed Apr 21, 2010 1:12 pm

I just got a bit of bad news today: I have been given 30 days to get out of the Navy.

If everyone isn't aware, I am presently in a medically limited status due to injuries sustained on base in an accident on 30April2008. I have been fighting the commanding officer of the base clinic for the right to receive proper and considerate treatment, which has been a losing battle overall. Despite the fact that I have pending appointments with different specialists that specialize in the exact field that I need help with, I am now being denied the ability to seek help from them.

We are packing up the house now, so the module layout parts will not be worked on until we get ourselves situated in a place of our own. I may still continue work on some of my other projects, such as my PVM kits and "trace paper "buildings, but practically everything else will get boxed up this week.

From the way it looks, we will be moving mid-west when this is all over with.

To say that after the battles that I have had to put up for my care to get this end result, and still have the same medical problems is depressing is an understatement. But there is one upside: I am getting the hell out of corrupticut soon!

Screw 'em. Get out of Conn and enjoy life.

...because the forces treat their own well. :(

Sucks to hear, but hope for the best! Perhaps moving to someplace you like better will also have positive benefits to your health. :)

I know that getting out of CONnecticut will help me morale-wise, and slightly improves my health (less stress, somewhat lower blood pressure.)

With this quite literal last minute "Oh yeah, you have 30 days to get out of the Navy" this morning, stuff is flying everywhere. The standard time to get out is 60-90 days, so I am really getting screwed with. We do not have time to get the job prospects even lined up, ditto for housing. Hence why we are going to be moving in with Nicholle's father. He has a farm that needs help and extra space, so I will be helping on the farm to the maximum of my ability, until I can find a new job.

I am starting to worry about how I will be in 30 days though, just from the packing today and the run around I have had to do, I am in a hell of a lot of pain, my hernias are acting up, and I have had a few intermittent torsion episodes already.

On the upside, I may be able to attend the 2010 NMRA meet a little easier, as North Dakota is closer to Wisconsin than Corrupticut is, pending my ability to walk then.

Right now I am really tempted to storm into the commanding officer of the base clinic's office and tell CAPT K.A. DiRenzo off. (A nice "F" You Cap'n! should do nicely). She has been the person I have fought with the most regarding my care, and has single-handedly destroyed my career, effectively wasting the last 8 years of my life.

Regarding the "Where are you" thread, I would like to change my entry to North Dakota. The only real sucky part of North Dakota is the lack of railroad museums (5 total). (But then again, I am quite sure starting a new one should not be all that hard.....)

I also will need to change my screen name as well....

It sucks that this is how your departure from the navy is going down, but, as you said, this gives you the opportunity to pick a better place for you and family to live, and, hopefully, get the medical treatment you need.

Well, here is some good news: after many months of fighting, I have been approved to get a Pudental Nerve Block done, which I am hoping will help me out a lot, even though it is expected to be temporary at best.

Very true! We are in BNSF territory, and not far from UP, CN, and CP territory. When I get home, I have many photos to post of the local trains, both active and museum pieces.
