B&O N-17/N-17a/N-17b (USRA) twin hopper decals

B&O N-17/N-17a/N-17b (USRA) twin hopper decals

Postby Marquette » Fri Mar 28, 2014 2:33 am

As mentioned in another thread, I have in my possession now 19 sets of decals for B&O USRA hoppers. Seven of these sets are for my own use; the remaining 12 sets will be available for sale or trade.

These are not ALPS-printed decals; rather, they are digital silk-screen decals, with the corresponding quality - with even the small print sharp and legible.

Here is a low-rez view of the sheet:

As you can see there is a wide array of reweigh dates and location marks, repack dates, and everything else needed to letter two models, one in the post-war "13 Great States" scheme introduced in 1946, and one in either the early billboard style introduced in mid 1953 or the mid-fifties billboard style introduced in 1956. Cars in both schemes ran into the 1960s, though the further forward, the rarer the old-style got.

The 1946 "13 Great States" scheme:

The 1953 scheme:

I will be preparing some basic placement instructions over the next days, which I will include with the decals.

I'd be happy to make trades, or to sell them at $10 per set (which works out to $5 per car).

Another small update:

I've got the hard part done - the placement drawings for the five (not three!) lettering options available on the sheet. Current part I'm working on is the descriptive writing.

Okay, another update: I've verified some info I wanted to verify for the instruction sheet regarding running numbers, subclasses and build dates... I've given up on the idea of a basic instruction sheet, and will instead provide a somewhat more detailed one with enough information to correctly letter your models.

With that info at hand now, I will have the instruction sheet ready this weekend, after which I will let you all know paypal info!

Okay, update time!

The instruction sheet is ready. I've made it as a PDF file, but I can if necessary provide it as a printed copy. I would recommend the PDF version, however, as that can be zoomed in to see the diagrams clearly. (Plus it saves on trees!)

I will be contacting each of you who've spoken for sets via PM shortly.

Oh, one more thing: 10 sets are spoken for, so there are only two more available! So if you want one, get one now, because in order for a reprint to happen, there will need to be 20 sets made... and I won't need any more of these myself.

You can just throw the PDF in this thread if it's easier for you.
