Thanks, I try. With some more track on the way, we are going to try for a couple of 2'x4' modules soon.

Finished photos of the Jon-boat hulls. All they need now is people, motors (or oars), and fish.

Next project: a 53' trailer.

It is more or less a proof of concept than anything else, and is merely a prototype, refined versions will follow. The biggest thing I need to figure out is to how to make decent looking tyres. The other gear is easy. What colours it ends up is still in question. (Actually, I had no pre-planning, I just took a section of strip basswood, cut it up with a miter box and put it together while watching Johnny Cash in Riding the Rails over the course of an hour.

I do plan on trying to focus more on non-railcar things, such as trucks and other such things. I need to hone my skills A LOT before I attempt to tackle cars and semi-truck tractors. As angular as my truck (1989 Ford Ranger XLT) is, I could possibly pull off a decent model at present time, with current skills.

I will attempt in the near future to build a trailer for the new Jon Boats, and attempt a model of the Knight Mobile Unit from Knight Rider, once I can get dimensions down.

More easily done is a model of the USS Gambier Bay, my car/tractor carrier trailer (yes, the trailer is named after a ship, the USS Gambier Bay CVE-73, a Casablanca Class escort carrier that was lost in 1944 in the Battle off Samar, the same battle that saw the self sacrifice of the USS Johnston.)

More work on the trailer: This is my first attempt at making wheels for a truck trailer. I am not too pleased wit the results though. They might look a little better when painted. I am not that picky about underside details for things like this, as they are nothing more than movable scenery.

I couldn't cut the plastic thin enough without warping it to the point of being scrap, so each dual wheel set is mimicked with a single section of polystyrene tubing with a dowel acting as support, inner tire portion, and axle. I wonder if my brake line flaring set might be able to cut the tubing better.

The paint discoloration came from the CA kicker that I used.

I wonder if there are some sort of small rubber rings that you can easily source to use as tires?

I have thought of that, and what I found looked like cartoon type tires. I have a pipe cutter in my flaring kit that I think might do a better job of cutting the plastic, as well as the idea that I need to buy another hobby drill set and use thin metal tubing for axles, and cut the dowels to match the tire treads.

This trailer was intended to be a proof of concept. The body is fairly sound, and there is nothing saying that I can't cut the demo wheels off when I am able to make better ones.

What about some type of rubber bushing for radio controlled cars or planes or something?

I will have to check the only hobby shop in the area to see what they have. If there is nothing there, I am not going to buy parts like that sight unseen.
