I do a ton of research online. If you dig deep enough things sometimes get unearthed in strange places. There's gotta be something out there for the cars you're looking for.

By the way, Tillig already makes intermodal containers in the full, half and tank varieties. I would check them out before reinventing the wheel.

Good thought, and if they are accurately dimensioned, they could be used as a template to be sure they would fit into the US prototype well car project.

I am aware that they make them, but it is more cost efficient for me to build my own, plus I need something to occupy my time right now.

More progress on the 40' gondola, plus a new 50' gondola with higher sides.

Here is the body of the 50' gondola coming together. The walls are made of two strips of 0.030" x 0.250" styrene, glued such that the walls are now 0.030" x 0.500", with the glue seam on the inside of the car. (as such, the car will have some sort of load)

Overhead views of the 40' gondola, the 50' gondola, and a prepared roof and frame for a 40' boxcar.

Side views of the gondolas.

Undersides of the cars (I do plan on adding some brake details later):

Amazing what one can do on 6 hours of sleep every 3-4 days, huh?

Fair enough. It would be nice if they matched, so they could be interchangeable.

Two more cars have started their construction today.

The first is another 50' gondola of generic design, using the same dimensions and design of the one started a few days ago, primarily to test out a different assembly method, and to prove that I can duplicate cars with reasonable fidelity. (The boxcars done a few years ago do not count, as there was a lot of prefab sections used.)

The second is a 40' wagon-top type boxcar, using an idea in an old Gandy Dancer bulletin.

I need to wait and let the glue cure fully before using filler putty on the boxcar, as my impatience has left me with my left hand in a glued together Vulcan salute.

Do you think you could move the car to the side in the next picture so I can see the price on those Good Luck Nuggets? Sounds like something I could match up with my Q ray bracelet.
