American Kenworth truck, a little bit ovesized?

American Kenworth truck, a little bit ovesized?

Postby Arseny » Wed Aug 03, 2011 1:46 pm

Does anybody love Kenworth trucks?
I've purchased on Ebay the die-cast Kenworth model; it seems to me that it is Kenworth W900 (produced since 1962).
Made by Shinsei, declared as 1/128 scale; but I am sure it is a little bit over-sized for TT...

Among with the TT-scale European and Russian trucks:

It looks pretty well sized I think. Does it have a trailer also?

Yes, there is a trailer also. It seems to be 50-foot (it is approx. 20-25% longer than Gold Coast's boxcars)

Do you think Kenworth is really so bigger than Tatra or MAZ?
If so, I am quite happy. :)
Anybody who want to get nice American truck for the layout, can try to find "Shinsei Kenworth 1/128" on Ebay or somewhere else by Google.

And the model is:

8 cm lenght
2.5 cm width
approx. 3 cm height (but the sleeping bay in lower)

...So, I think, it is close to 1:100...

Maybe another Kenworth (K100) possibility?

Nice truck. Did you made it yourself? Or it was ready model?

As for me, I do not like cab-over-engine trucks. There are a lot of COE trucks here in Russia (and in Europe too, am I right?), so I like bonnet trucks.

The Russian YaAZ truck is looking like Federal D65 truck, so you can use YaAZ cabin to build Federal truck:

Unfortunately there are no YaAZ tractor-with-a-trailer models available, so you are to use YaAZ cabin and KrAZ tractor, removing its "native" cabin. Or you can use YaAZ dump truck as Federal dump truck.

Also there are Russian ZiS-150 trucks and trailers available, they are almost similar with the International trucks.

I changed one of these:

They were toys from "Überraschungseier".

I built an international(-like) too, but from a Zil-truck:

Did you use Permo model?
You had to work hard to remove 3rd axle, I guess - the ZiL-157 was 3-axle!

If you need more "russian-american" trucks, try to find ZiS-150 or YaAZ model; as I know, they are available in Europe. For example:

http://www.modelauto.cz/item.php?kind=2 ... em=1200019 (it is not MAZ-500 in fact, it is YaAZ-210)

Yes i used a kit from Permo. I think all the RTR models are to expensive for my hobby conversions. So i used just kits or used models. (Sorry for my terrible english)
