Airplane...

Back in the 1950s and 1960s, Revell made model airplanes in whatever scale fit the box, so there were all sorts of crazy scales like 1:92, 1:66, etc.

Well, some of these old kits have been reissued as "heritage" kits, and I saw one at the LHS the other day that may be interesting to some of you:

The Martin PBM-5 Mariner - the Revell kit is in 1:118 scale, so close enough even for me. :P

They were used by the US Navy (1940-1956), the US Coast Guard (1943-1958), the Royal Netherlands Navy (in New Guinea, 1955-1959), the National Navy of Uruguay (1956-1964) and the Royal Australian Air Force (WW2 to sometime in the 1950s).

I'd love to see some!

I'm also big into airplanes (have been in an airplane groove lately, hence part of why I've not really been around here...)

I used to be. I still have 50 or so unbuilt Hasegawa 1:72 models in a box. I guess I'll get to them when I retire.

If one of those happens to be a P-2 Neptune, and you ever consider selling it, keep me in mind... I've got decals for an RCAF Neptune, but no kit to put it on...

Nope, sorry. BTW, I'm moving this to "off topic" as it's not really train related.

This is Russian Petlyakov Pe-8 bomber in 1:72 scale. The focus is on the rear gunner's compartment. A HUGE amount of the parts are scratch built. Enjoy.

BTW, the metal window frame outsides are not painted. They're actual metal that's been added.
