A visit to the spinning mill

A visit to the spinning mill

Postby jpachl » Thu Jun 16, 2016 4:52 pm

Last weekend, I visited a former spinning mill factory in Leipzig, Germany, which is now an art district. When looking through the pictures I took of different parts of the area, I found a fascade that would fit perfectly as a background pic for a temporary photo diorama.

Thanks! I'm just working on another scene. Next weekend, I plan to visit that place again to take some more pictures.

That's a stunningly gorgeous effect. Is it easy applying photos to the backdrop, or is technique involved?

It's incredible how well you make the backgrounds fit the models. Realistic as hell.

I agree- I couldn't tell if that staircase was part of the model or of the picture!

The backdrop is a regular photo, which was just edited a little to make the perspective fit the scene in the foreground. However, as with many of my temporary photo settings, the background picture was just added on a computer. The model scene was photographed in front of a white wall. So, the final scene never existed in reality. Same is true for all pics in my temporary diorama album on Flickr: https://flic.kr/s/aHsjBrMiB9

Here is another photo scene for which I used a background picture of that location. This time, I tried a close-up, which shows the excellent detailing of the TT scale models.

You need to send this last image to one of the publications that have "yes it's a model" sections.
