A Simple Handout

A Simple Handout

Postby Bill Dixon » Thu Aug 15, 2013 12:26 am

I was wondering if a very simple business card sized handout that we could scatter around the displays would be a good idea?

We do have the brochures which are great for those who we think are very interested but we tend to try and cram as much information in them as is possible. This is a waste on the casual viewer.

Something simple like this:

It has just enough information for the interested person to check up on us but is not so expensive to make that we would be significantly out of pocket. If you have access to a ticket punch, you could punch out the date of issue to make it a more memorable keepsake.

That is a good idea (and relatively rare even), but it may just be me, but the ticket idea could use a little refining.

That said, we have at least a half dozen different ticket punches, mostly from Trolley lines in New England. Perhaps this idea could be put to use for next year's NTS.

It is a very nice idea. Why I did not such an idea for business cards?

Brilliant! I'll be handing those out at shows I attend.

For those who want to print their own without having to make up the file here is a pdf of a page of ten of them.
Just print on card stock or heavy paper, white or colored, and cut them out.

As a quick experiment I printed a few out on coloured card stock.

The colour is a bit off. The top left one should be white.
I don't think that the colour is necessary but it does add a bit more visibility to the handout. Some colours are better than others. Perhaps one that complemented the colour scheme of the layout would be a good choice.
It would be nice if the reverse side had the name of the event where the handout was given out but as that adds complications to printing, I think of it as a 'nice to have touch' but not a necessary one.
If you had a club sticker the backside would be a good place for it.

If you have a club. This is TT, remember, and how many TT clubs are out there, especially in the US? I can think of one, maybe two, though I can't recall their names, and I believe they are not exclusively or even primarily TT. Do we have a place here on TT nut to list clubs that feature TT scale?

Well, I am a member of RATT but we don't have a sticker. No, we don't have a place on the board for clubs. Perhaps there should be one.....lemme see where it would make most sense to put it.
