A favor, maybe? . . .

Talk about anything and everything!

A favor, maybe? . . .

Postby ConnRiver » Sat Jul 16, 2016 11:26 am

In my journalism days in the 1980s, I wrote perhaps a couple dozen stories about battleship USS Iowa and her renovation for return to the American fleet. Visited her three times. The Iowa Class -- New Jersey, Missouri, Wisconsin -- are all museum ships today.

For maybe three weeks, I've been trying to get out the vote to elect USS Iowa the nation's "Best Museum Ship" in the USA Today poll. Anyone here care to lend me a hand? Voting ends Monday at 12 noon ET. Interested persons may vote daily.

Iowa, a museum newcomer, has risen from fourth place, to second, to first. In the last few days carrier USS Midway (San Diego) and Iowa (Los Angeles, San Pedro) have been see-sawing back and forth at the top two positions.

My other great love, besides TT scale, is Iowa State University athletics. My messages there and voting link there are approaching 1100 hits. Hope my Cyclone buds are voting. And, I hope my TT buds won't be offended if I come hat-in-hand asking for this favor.

Don't know if guests can vote at Fanatic. If not, here's a direct link to voting:

Thank you much for any help you might give!

Remember, if there was no Iowa, there would be no bacon!

Anything for "Moo U" ! :)

(Iowa must be near Chicago, since I was able to vote twice)

Do you know why Hawkeye mothers only change their babies' diapers once a month?
Because it says on the package - "Good for up to 24 pounds"

What do you get when you cross a Hawkeye with a Ground Hog?
Six more weeks of probation.

OK, modorney, those are going on my ISU thread. Hawkeye jokes go over extremely well there ;-)

How many Hawkeyes does it take to eat a possum?
Three - one to eat, and two to direct traffic around him.

How many Hawkeyes does it take to screw in a light bulb?
One - but he gets three hours credit.

Why don't they rake the leaves on the Iowa campus?
The workers keep falling out of the trees.
