Here is the "Post-Mortem" of the display and of the 54th Atlanta Model Train and Railroadania Show:
The Good
Two of the five motorized locomotives that I brought to the show ran pretty well flawlessly for almost 8 hours. Those being the modified BR107 and a BTTB Soviet-era loco that pulled a pair of matching CCCP cars.
I was able to demonstrate three running loops of TT scale track, along with the display boards that were made in 2009 and 2012, respectively.
The Bad
Two of the locomotives that I brought failed during the show.
I was not able to finish both layouts fully before the show, which was not a problem for most people.
Packing the van up with the modules and 7 people with all related gear was a pain in the tailfeathers.
The Ugly
There was one NMRA guy, who I shall not name right now, who seemed to be livid about the plain BTTB layout at the show, and also griped about my refusal to embrace DCC.
The failure of the MTB SW loco was rather morale (and heart) breaking, considering the work I put into repairing it last week.
The Awesome
We did get invites to other train shows in the region, including the upcoming one in March, 2018 at the Cobb Galleria, although the space available there for my setup will only be 5' x 10', versus 9' x 24' at this show.
Lessons learned from this show will be applied to future shows, such as the need for an enclosed trailer (or a bigger van).
