I downloaded Open SCAD and have it running. Didn't encounter any problems installing it. Next I searched for some tutorial videos on You Tube and came up with this one. It explains how to start drawing. Pretty simple if you consider actually using words in making a shape. To me this is almost like writing a program and not drawing. I may be missing something here since I'm used to drawing lines and giving dimensions such as is used in 2D cad.

Here's a link to several tutorials on using Open SCAD: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eq5ObNeiAUw
He has several tutorials. I watched the first three.

Thanks for the link, definitely worth the time to (try to) learn (and retain).

Just downloaded and tried Open SCAD. That is more like a programming type of 3d drawing program. Probably pretty powerful but I would guess it has a steep learning curve.

I suggest you start with Google Sketchup. It's probably the easiest to pickup and use.
