2019 Western Rails

The Western Rails 2019
37th Annual Railroadiana Show
Is a week later than usual on Sunday March 24, 2019 9 AM to 4 PM
at Cameron Recreation Complex, 9523 Cameron Street, Burnaby, BC - behind Lougheed Town Centre.

We will be there with a big display.
I was originally going to use this a a prerun for the Salt Lake City layout but even after replacing Richard's modules with Terrys' we had a lot of unused modules. So I extended the layout by one eight foot table.

I did a sanity check on this display to make sure I wasn't using modules I didn't have and found a few that I had forgot about. It includes one module under construction (I have the turnouts, flex track, cork and module carcass. Waiting for the track pieces (4 x BG4) to arrive from Europe).
I used the leftover modules to make a switching area behind one side of the display. We will need a pair of clip leads to jumper the power to the rear track and a piece or two of track to connect it up, bit it should run OK.

I took our current planned Salt Lake City display, replaced Richards modules and changed the tables to 30" wide tables and submitted this to Western Rails.

What time is set-up for the show? Enthused participants would like to know.

It will be the usual chaotic Saturday afternoon setup.
I hope to be there around 2 PM.
Need to get to work to get stuff done for the show.

We had a busy set-up last night. The layout is now too big to just show up and wing it. We need to plan a little bit more in the days before the show.

The power module is still acting up. Bill is frustrated and will redo the whole thing, I guess. Off to the show early this morning to finally apply power and test the layout. We have only two hours between when they let us in and before the public arrives. Better be quick.

Loved seeing this on Sunday! Wanted to chat but you guys were busy. My 7 years daughter loved it too, hasn’t stopped bugging me about it. Want me to build one just like it. Ha ha ha

Glad to hear you enjoyed it.

If you want to see more, our next setup is the weekend of June 22 and 23 at the BC Society of Model Engineers in Confederation Park in Burnaby (intersection of Willingdon and Penzance). We will be running both days from opening to closing - 11 AM to 5 PM.
Introduce yourself. If your daughter is good with her toys we will let her run a train. You too.
