Well, I could use the practice with scenery work, I could "adopt" a module or two?

Sounds like a good idea. I'll dig a basic straight module out for you.
Will let you know when it is ready to pickup at the store.

The Vancouver Train Expo last month was very successful.
They came through with a very nice honorarium for our display.
It will pay for another six foot table covering, a Really Usefull box to carry them all, a few more module boxes, track bits and other things the display needs, and a good TT-Tracks Birthday dinner in January, location to be determined. Suggestions welcomed. Looking at Saturday Jan 11, 2020.

Right on! What's an "honorarium"?
What people think: "liberals/conservatives are ruining my country"
What the ruling class know: divide and conquer

A "honorarium" is basically like the people operating the show sharing some of the profit from the show with the people that help attract people to the show.

We (the Possum Central Railroad System) have received "honorariums" a few times for shows, typically not a lot, but enough to cover gas. It serves as an incentive of sorts to bring out layouts and displays for shows.

The show shares a bit of the profits with the layouts that displayed that year.
The Victoria show, Chilliwack, BCSME and VTE give honoraiums if there is a profit.
Western Rails, Nanaimo, and the NMRA shows do not. The first year the VTE was in their new expensive venue, they asked if the layouts would donate the money back to help the show. We did so.

This years Honoraiums have been useful.
The June BCSME honoraium went to Tibi to help pay for the trailer we rented to go to Salt Lake City.
A donation from a member, the September BCSME H and the Chillwack H paid for the table covers.
The VTE honorarium will be spent as mentioned in a previous posting.

This is so good to hear, that our exhibit was well received and appreciated by the organizers.
We can sure use some money for table covering as this makes our layout more professionally looking.
I was also thinking that maybe we should figure out a simple protection to keep “junior engineers” from rearranging the layout and grabbing trains or switching turnouts.
If that is not possible maybe we should create a “piggy bank” to help offsetting costs of repair of damaged stock. Good to know that there is some money coming our way.

Bill, as for your dinner suggestion, as you know, I live far away and the five hour drive, one way, (if the weather cooperates) is not an option. The only way I could participate would be around the next Exhibit.

Ditto...
except I'm 3-1/2 times as far away... (Far - Far - Far ???)

Rather than dining off the well-deserved honorarium...
It might be worthwhile to consider a set-aside for future travel costs to another NMRA National !
