2018 Western Rails

Postby Bill Dixon » Wed Jan 31, 2018 3:16 am

Western Rails is not far off.

Sunday March 18, 9am to 5pm at Cameron Centre in Burnaby, BC.
Setup Saturday afternoon at 3pm.
I hope we can go to Red Robin for BBB after setup. I am double booked for that weekend so it would be nice if I could get away to dinner at 5pm so I can head off at 6:15pm.

I am going to ask for the same space as we had at Vancouver Train Expo.
We can have it against the wall with single side public access or out in the hall with all around access.

Comments.

I am in, of course.

Maybe it's time to move away from the wall, or?

As I mentioned to Bill it's easier to monitor the layout with only one side open to viewers, but Voytek and Graeme will be with us, so we should be able to manage the layout open all around. If it's like last year's show, space won't be a problem.

Voytek, Graeme, and I intend to arrive 3PM Saturday for setup. Voytek will bring his modules. All this isn't news, just a response, since Bill Dixon hasn't posted any more information.

Here is the layout were going to setup at Western Rails.
2017 Western Rails..jpg
If you think it looks a lot like 2017 VTE, your are right.
The only changes I made were to accommodate the . . . . . . GuiTTar Layout.

Yes the GuiTtar layout has come home, sadly with out its builder.
I tested it this last weekend and it seems to be in good shape.
Tonight I worked out how to get power to it from the main layout and made the necessary cables and connectors.
Thanks to my wife, Kathy, I have a tablet for the layout. It is her old one but works OK. The Roco Z21 ap and layout is loaded up. All worked well during the test.

Because of my other activities this weekend I will be out late Friday night so loading the van will be split over two days. Thursday evening I will load the tables, and folding corners, the heavy stuff. Saturday morning all the rest will be loaded. I would load everything up Thursday night but where I will be parked Friday evening is not the safest place to have a fully loaded van.
Looking forward to the show. It is only one day and a lot of work to make it happen, but it is still worth it.

Half loaded and ready.
The plan of course is just a 'plan'. It will be modified on the spot to fit the modules we actually have.
We have all around public access with our refuge in the center.

It will be interesting to see what people have done in the last few months.
I know I haven't done much. Too much life going on.
