2017 Nov VTE

Is the VTE (Vancouver Train Expo) going to happen?
I was wondering when/how the TT-Tracks would get together this year.

VTE is uncertain. According Bill Dixon in March there is nobody to organize it.

We intend to do TT Tracks this summer at Heritage Park, date yet to be determined. Discussed here in Events thread BCSME. This isn't a regular train show. It's an outdoor railway and we'll be a guest exhibit in their station.

We intend to show TT Tracks in Chilliwack BC. in October. The venue is large, the show is popular, and the organizers treat us well. This is a two-day event but we just do Sundays because Bill works Saturdays. I'd like very much to be there both days, especially if VTE doesn't happen.

Hmm...
Chilliwack is about 100 miles East of the PNE...
but it's only about 25 miles further away if coming up from the US across the border.
A mere 951 miles door to door.
I did 260 miles yesterday in 3-1/2 hours non-stop back from the PCR Convention in Bakersfield!

I'll provisionally pencil-in the October 21st-22nd weekend...
and I see Central has it on their Show Schedule.

From the US, crossing the border near Abbotsford used to be a lot quicker than the crossing to the west, at Interstate 5. I'm in Danville, Richard is in San Leandro, and I think another TT person is in Sacramento?

16 hours driving - tolerable if we took turns at the wheel?

The 2017 Vancouver Train Expo will be held at the PNE Forum in Vancouver, B.C. on the weekend of November 11, 2017 and November 12, 2017. As the eleventh is Remembrance Day the show will be pausing at 11 AM for Remembrance Day ceremonies.
Setup will be the afternoon of Friday the 10th.
Tear down starts Sunday at 5 PM.

As soon as registration forms are available I will ask for the same space as last year.

Most likely TT-Nut dinner Friday night and or Saturday night.

Should be a great show. I hope to see a new module of two from other members.

I originally asked for a space 29' x 11'. I put in a request for a few more inches.

This is the current plan. If bad road conditions prevent Voytek from coming, we have enough spare modules to fill his space.

I have heard that space is tight so I designed two more smaller layouts.
One shorter and wider 27' x 13 1/2' and one just shorter 25 1/2' x 11 1/2'.

We will see what space is available.

Unfortunately... this year I will not make it up to VTE.

Still dealing with the after-effects of my Mother's situation and her move, and I have my own medical issue that will make travel -very- uncomfortable; A treatment required for my pale Irish skin that will make me look like a leper for nearly a month... and I need to get it done well before the end of the year.

Sooo... no road trips in 4Q 2017; but next year I will try to be up to BC at least once.
