To tempt people to next Vancouver train show in November here are some photos of the waterfront bordering the north side of downtown. These show the yards of the CP railway. Years ago they had a ferry to carry railway cars to Vancouver Island from here, also a ferry for automobiles which was a nice ride. I've been told that at one time 5 passenger trains would leave each day for the east from the CP station. Now the activity is mostly containers to be shipped overseas. The white tent-like structure is a federal convention centre which sticks out over the water and is the dock for cruise ships to Alaska.
Of possible interest in these photos is the set of Kansas City Southern passenger cars parked during the Olympics. According to my source, CP rented the train to entertain friends of the railway during the games. Some like locos, some like freight cars, I like passenger trains.
