TT Scale. The Ideal Scale.

On another topic we are working on module plans along the line of Ntrak and various other scales modules.

N scale has spawned a smaller module size (based on Japanese ideas) called T-Trak (SEE: http://www.t-trak.org/index.html. This uses Kato unitrack on small (a foot square or so) modules to make easily portable modules for those who can not handle a standard 2' x 4' module. Some quite large layouts have been made and displayed along side the larger Ntrak layouts.

Now that Tillig has a Unitrack style track available is there interest in developing a "TT-Trak" module specification?
I would call it "TT-Trak". Using the Tillig 'Bedding Track' I think that corners would be 19" square allowing for two mainlines using 310mm and 353mm curves. Side modules would be 19 1/2" wide (three lengths of 166mm straight track) by 12' deep.

This is not intended to replace the full sized module standards but to give and alternate choice for those who do not have room for full sized modules.

Actually I was thinking along the same lines mainly to allow for smaller modules that can be carried around easily. If we can make them able to fit in with the bigger modules from the already decided on standards that would be PERFECT. Also, I wouldn't require bedding track - as long as the top of the rails are at the same height, it doesn't matter what the track is. Anyone know if standard track connects ok with bedding track?

Yes it does. You simply have to remove the plastic joiner and ad a metal rail connector to put them together. The exact height difference from the table (or underside of bedding track) to the underside of the imitated wood ties on the standard track is 4 mm.

Cool - thanks man. So it's just a matter of everyone taking into consideration the height and using whatever type of rail they want.

Look at Tillig 83139 "Module Leveling Piece"
It is used especially to connect modules, because it is very difficult to produce module so precisely and accurately to avoid any problems with the connection.



I am going to use it even for my small home layout.

Whaaaaat??????? I guess I totally missed the boat on this. I had no idea this piece exists. I can use a LOT of them on my layout......

Does anyone have pictures of these pieces on a layout / module / in use?

I can make only a photo of the pieces. I did not use them yet.
