Hey Joe, no pics as most of the work is being done under the hood. The post you mention actually contains a youtube video.

i know first things first, and am quite appreaciative of all the work you are doing on this model, but i was thinking of the progression of the u3ob into the u30c. i know the trucks are c-c but is there an actual size difference in the frames? joe

Honestly I haven't looked. Probably when I get to designing C-C gearboxes it would be for Norkin's SD45 since I have a couple of those.

The frame size is actually not an issue at all. I can lengthen / shorten the frame at will to fit whatever. The transmission/gearing is the big deal.

The GE three axle truck is longer- 13 feet 7 inches wheelbase, broken up to 6' 7.5" - 6' 11.5" , so it'll take some reworking to get the C trucks going. It's another goofy thing, the EMD C trucks are also 13' 7" but they're equally spaced- 6' 9.5" between axles, so a little mudging of the sideframes might do most six axle locos!.

I am sure Andrey meant U-boat.
As for chassis for SD45, he suggests NOHAB.

Do you mean NOHAB AA16?
NOHAB (as such) was a company, not a locomotive :)
But you probably know that. 500 NOHAB steam engines were exported to the Soviet Union.

^^^^ true. It's pretty common to refer to the locos as NOHABs though.

Yes, of course.
But, as I know, there is only one NOHAB's locomotive available in TT - AA16/Di3/M61/My
So, I was talking about it, and usually it is called simply "Nohab" by TTers, at least in Russia.

For example, few days ago I've called the "Semaphor" shop by phone:
"- Do you have the TT-scale Nohab in stock?
- Yes, we have the red one; welcome!"

(BTW it is a licenced copy of EMD's F-unit)

Yes, I know. It was Russian Э-serie ("Ae") steam locomotive. It is a famous and most popular Russian locomotive.
Hope, Peresvet will produce it in future...
