For those not on the Yahoo group, a long time TTer recently passed and his widow is trying to get the trains sold. From what I've been told, $1500 may just do it but the whole shebang has to be gone from the house. I'm adding pics containing the list of models and of the layout. Everything has to go at once - no parsing out. I assume no one can take everything so my thought is this:
Everyone who wants a model say so, offer a fair price for it (the prices in the pics are an insurer's numbers) and if the number gets up to or over $1500 the whole lot gets bought. Whatever does not get bought will be donated to a club here in the US who is planning a TT layout to go along with their other scale. It's the only one I've heard of in this country so I think it's a good charity opportunity. I don't remember the club or the gentleman's name but some of you who know off the top of your heads can fill in that part.
I'm only doing this because the house containing the layout is in the Atlanta area and I thought I could be of help.
If you guys get up to or over the $1500 mark, we'll figure out the exact arrangements. Likely, you guys will send the money to me, I'll go get everything and then ship it out to its new owners (you). If there's money left over above $1500, I'll use that to cover shipping expenses for everything that's left un-bought (the whole layout?) to get it to the club.
Everything will be first come, first serve. If you want something, say so first and write in what you're willing to pay for it.
