TT Scale. The Ideal Scale.

The last couple of pictures show the engine that pulled the excursion (built in 1917). This was no kind of slow meandering ride. They really put that old lady to work. She has a maximum speed of 80 km/h and we hauled Haggis. They also made all the halts and station stops along the way, picking up passengers as we went. Before the return trip there was time to visit yet another railway museum at the other end of the line. I was in the first coach, so was looking at the engine most of the time. The best was that you could stick your head out of the windows of the vintage coach. Making sure to take your head back when needed as some of the trees are rather close to the track. A branch in the face at 80 km/h does nothing to enhance the experience.

Amazing find! Brno has a tram museum. They have generations of street cars that ran in Brno, Prague, Ostrava and Olomouc. The museum was closed, however; when my uncle called someone happened to answer and the result was an invitation for a private tour! The gentleman who looks after the place was able to tell us detailed information about all of it, but was disappointed that no money had been put into the preservation since the end of the communist era. Nevertheless, there where many beautifully maintained and restored units.

Interesting thing about that water tram is that it was used to spray down the streets on hot days to cool things down. It is the only one of its kind in preservation.

^^^ If you can get into this place, GO! The fear is that one day some short sighted pencil pushing moron will decide the city dosen't need to keep these things and will sell them off. A shame. In Prague they run their vintage trams in regular service around the old city during the weekends.
