From Herr Kuehn:

"Dear modellers,

I have followed with interest the discussion to the new interface Next18.
In the field of H0 decoder meet Plux16/22 MTC21 and decoder, the customer demand for more functionality in the model railway vehicles. The model railroaders smaller gauges were technical developments not be part of it. The interface was Next18 Association of Manufacturers Digital Model Railway Products Association (rail community, [ www.railcommunity.org being elaborated in order to answer these questions to be)].
The idea of the interface Next18 made by the Association of Manufacturers Digital Model Railway Products Association in a few days at the International Toy Fair in Nuremberg.

Yours sincerely,

here is the proposed new standard in german
Next18.pdf
(456.32 KiB) Downloaded 125 times

There is two different decoder types: NEXT 18 & NEXT 18-S, one being a standard decoder and the other a sound version

As far as I can see, it`s basicly a better, smaller version of the PLUX12 and has all the extra function outlets already integrated, that are normally have to be soldered after the installation to the responding function (those lose function cabels on the NEM 651 & 652 decoders). It looks promising and seems to be pushed/supported by Mr. Kuehn

Kuehn digital is offering the new decoder for 2011: N45-18
