BTW I forgot to mention - there appears to be some sort of manufacturing defect on the switches so I would hold off on ordering the track for a bit.

There are four plastic 'tabs', presumably for turnout machine. Are they removable?

Not sure. There was discussion on tt-board about it but I didnt understand it very well.
